Quick comparison
Brief Comparison When Choosing a Paint Measurement Device
The following distinction shows the measurement usage area; it does not guarantee the same result or the same surface coverage on every vehicle.
Decision guide
What problem does the HT616 solve?
The device measures the coating thickness on a metal panel. Comparing values taken on the same panel and adjacent panels provides a measurable baseline when investigating suspicion of local paint, thick repair, or panel history.
- Panel-based micrometer measurement
- Steel and aluminum surface distinction
- Repeatable measurement for inspection record
Decision guide
Why is Fe/NFe measurement important?
Steel and aluminum do not exhibit the same magnetic response. The HT616's Fe/NFe recognition helps the device select the appropriate measurement method on different metal surfaces of the vehicle body. This feature does not automatically convert paint measurement into an inspection report; correct panel and correct calibration are still required.
Fe mode is observed on steel panels such as the hood or roof.
NFe measurement is used on aluminum panels.
The scope of this metal measurement method for plastic bumpers is not assumed.
Decision guide
What's good in the competitors?
UNI-T UT343D stands out with more visible warranty and distributor information in Turkey; some models may offer higher recording capacity or different alarm options. Elcometer and DeFelsko offer more advanced options in professional quality control, probe, and software ecosystems. The HT616's competitive edge is offering daily vehicle paint inspection at a lower investment level.
- HT616: Feature/Price Balance
- UNI-T: Brand and Local Channel Visibility
- Elcometer/DeFelsko: Professional Measurement Ecosystem
Decision guide
How is the measurement result reported?
The report should not simply state 'paint present' or 'replaced'. Panel name, measurement point, surface type, minimum-maximum value, number of repetitions, and visible physical findings should be recorded together. The device measurement is not the sole evidence for a purchase decision.
- Panel and Point Name
- Fe/NFe Surface Type
- Minimum, Maximum, and Average
- Physical Inspection Notes
Frequently Asked Questions
Most frequently asked questions by customers
Is the HT616 a professional inspection device?
The HT616 can be considered a mid-range measurement device for daily inspections and bodywork checks. It should not be assumed to offer the full probe, software, certification, and service ecosystem required for professional quality control.
Does a paint thickness gauge alone detect replaced parts?
No. The measurement indicates changes in panel thickness. Panel geometry, connection marks, paint surface, and other inspection findings must be examined together.
