Selection Guide

EV diagnostic device and high voltage measurement kit are not the same

A diagnostic tablet reads fault codes and live data from supported control units. A high voltage measurement kit, on the other hand, may include separate equipment and adapters used for physical checks related to insulation, voltage, or battery packs. One product scanning EV vehicles does not mean it can perform every high voltage measurement.

  • Control unit scanning
  • Battery live data
  • Physical high voltage measurement
  • Adapter function

Selection Guide

What to check when choosing an electric vehicle fault diagnostic tool?

In addition to vehicle make, model, and year, the battery management system, thermal management, charging system, and supported service functions should be checked separately. For add-on kits working with existing tablets, the device model and connection interface must also match the package contents.

  • Vehicle and model year
  • BMS and thermal management
  • Charging system
  • Tablet and VCI compatibility

Selection Guide

Determine the safety limit for high voltage operations

Reading electric vehicle diagnostic data and performing physical operations on a high voltage circuit are different risk levels. High voltage systems should not be tampered with without qualified personnel, manufacturer procedures, and appropriate personal protective equipment. Product selection does not replace the safety procedures for the intended task.

  • Qualified personnel
  • Manufacturer procedure
  • Personal protective equipment
  • De-energization verification
