What is a paint thickness gauge used for?
A paint thickness gauge measures the coating thickness on a metal surface in micrometers. It can highlight the difference between panel measurements during a used car inspection; however, it does not solely determine paint, replacement, or chassis status. The measurement result is read in the same report along with panel geometry, color, repair marks, and other expert findings.
- Steel and aluminum panel check
- Suspicion of local paint and putty
- Measurement record before expert inspection
- Interpretation with physical inspection

How does a service maintenance device complement the main diagnostic tablet?
Service maintenance and measurement devices do not replace a "diagnostic tablet" on their own; they are used to verify data shown by the main diagnostic device through physical measurement, leak testing, battery checks, or special service functions. For example, a smoke leak detector visualizes leaks in the intake, EVAP, or vacuum lines, while a battery tester measures values in the starting and charging systems separately. Therefore, when choosing, the intended operation should be determined first, followed by the equipment to be used with the main device.
- Need for physical measurement
- Use with the main device
- Workshop work frequency
- Package contents

Which service equipment is selected for which job?
A smoke leak detector is used for hose, manifold, EVAP, and vacuum leak checks; a battery tester is used for battery health, starting, and charging system decisions; oscilloscopes and measurement modules are used for sensor, signal, and live data verification. Before purchasing, connection type, power requirements, measurement range, accessory kit, and the list of regularly performed tasks should be compared.
- Smoke leak test
- Battery and charging check
- Sensor/signal measurement
- Accessory compatibility
