Layers of evidence in mileage verification
Each record answers a different question; it is not a definitive history document on its own.
Decision guide
How is the value on the instrument cluster recorded?
The display shows the mileage the driver currently sees and is the starting point for the check. The value is recorded with the date of the check and the vehicle ID. Looking only at the display does not explain past changes, display replacement, or recording errors.
When inspecting a used car, the normal startup check of the warning lights is also observed. If there are unreadable pixels, an irregular display, or a recent display change, the transaction document is requested. Wear marks are a supplementary observation; they do not replace mileage calculation.

What does the digital service history provide?
Mercedes-Benz Digital Service History stores dated records of mileage status and performed service work. Sequential maintenance entries help to see the progression of mileage over time. The certified pre-owned car approach also considers mileage along with the vehicle's history and digital service book.
The presence of digital records does not mean that every maintenance was performed through the same channel. Private service invoices, parts replacement documents, and other dated records are added to the chronology. If there is a long gap in records, an explanation is sought separately.
Decision guide
How are inspection, invoice, and maintenance documents compared?
Inspection records, maintenance invoices, tire or battery replacement documents, and insurance appraisal records bearing dates and mileages support the timeline. Records from different institutions showing a consistently increasing sequence strengthen the check.
The vehicle ID, date, and mileage on the document are read simultaneously. An invoice belonging to another vehicle, a license plate change, miles-kilometers unit, or incorrect data entry can lead to a wrong conclusion. Therefore, matching the chassis number with the document is important.
Decision guide
Is vehicle module data definitive mileage?
No. Some Mercedes vehicles may store data related to usage, operating time, service, or mileage in different control units. Which value can be seen varies depending on the model, year, control unit, and the diagnostic system used. It cannot be assumed that every module contains the same type of mileage record.
The difference between a module value and the display is not direct evidence of odometer tampering. Control unit or display replacement, data unit, software operation, and recording format must be explained by an expert. The conclusion is based on the entire timeline.
Decision guide
Does the OBD device verify mileage?
The ability of an OBD device to read a specific value does not mean that this value is immutable and has an official usage history. Without knowing which control unit, which data field, and which unit is read, an 'original mileage' conclusion cannot be given.
MBito's official support information states that the mileage tampering or odometer adjustment function is not supported. This limitation does not make the product an official mileage history document. The adapter's main area of use is to examine diagnostic records and personalization options in supported Mercedes vehicles.

Checklist for a used Mercedes
First, the chassis number is matched with the vehicle and documents. The display mileage is recorded with a date; the digital service history, inspection, maintenance, and parts replacement documents are added to the same timeline. If the display or control unit has been replaced, the work order and parts document are requested.
- Chassis number and document match
- Odometer reading and inspection date
- Sequential order of digital service records
- Inspection, maintenance, and parts invoices
- Display or control unit replacement documents
- Written expert analysis in case of a suspicious discrepancy

How to read the record timeline?
Records are arranged in chronological order. If a newly dated value falls below an older record, it is first examined for data entry errors, unit differences, display changes, and vehicle ID. A large increase is not a problem in itself; the time between records and the usage context provide the framework.
For a vehicle that appears to have low mileage but has no maintenance records for many years, the low number alone is not considered positive evidence. Age-related fluid, tire, battery, and gasket maintenance are important regardless of mileage.
Lack of records does not prove incorrect mileage; it reduces the power of verification. If the documents used in the check and the vehicle data observed are included in the report, it becomes clear which conclusion is based on which evidence.

Where is MBito OBD used in this process?
MBito is not an OBD odometer tampering tool. The task that the vehicle owner should expect from the product is to view diagnostic records in supported control units and to examine the personalization options available for the vehicle. Used car history checks are carried out with official service records, dated documents, and, if necessary, expert analysis.
The product page on Otobiltek shows the current price, stock, and usage area of the MBito adapter. It does not offer promises such as selling a mileage history report or appraisal service.
Frequently Asked Questions
Most frequently asked questions by customers
Can Mercedes mileage be viewed from the chassis number?
The chassis number is used to match service and documentation records for the correct vehicle. The chassis number alone does not automatically and completely show the entire usage history.
If the service record and the odometer differ, which one is correct?
Neither is automatically considered correct without investigating the reason for the discrepancy. Reasons such as odometer replacement, data entry error, unit difference, or control unit replacement must be explained with dated documentation.
Is the mileage in the car's computer definitive?
No. First, it must be understood which data is being read from which control unit. Module data is compared with other records; it is not a definitive official history document on its own.
Can mileage be changed with MBito?
No. The MBito official support page states that mileage change and odometer adjustment functions are not supported.
What to do if there is no digital service record?
An alternative timeline is created using inspection records, dated maintenance and parts invoices, insurance appraisals, and documents found on the vehicle. Missing records are not definitive proof but a reason for further investigation.
