Initial Verification by Passenger Car Model Family
The model name is the starting point; the exact operation scope is verified by VIN, control unit, and software authorization.

What does XENTRY Diagnosis VCI do on a passenger car?
XENTRY Diagnosis VCI is not a tablet or a standalone diagnostic tool. In Mercedes-Benz's official description, VCI is defined as the interface between the vehicle and the XENTRY Diagnosis software. Quick tests, actual values, guided troubleshooting, and permitted activation operations are performed via the software, license, and user authorization on the computer.
Connecting the VCI to the vehicle does not mean all menus will automatically open. Vehicle identification, installed software version, account authorization, and online access work together.
Reading fault codes, performing active tests, carrying out coding, and loading control unit software are operations with different risks and authorization levels. The intended operation must be clearly stated before purchase.

How is coverage checked for A, C, E, and S-Class?
Although the A-Class, CLA, C-Class, E-Class, and S-Class are under the same brand, their electronic architectures and security requirements are not the same. Within the same series name, the chassis generation, facelift, engine, hybrid system, and equipment package can vary. Therefore, compatibility is not guaranteed solely by the information 'C-Class' or 'E-Class'.
- Chassis number and production year
- Target control unit and fault symptom
- Distinction between diagnostics, adaptation, coding, or programming
- Separate evaluation of standard diagnostics and Flash authorization

What changes in GLA, GLB, GLC, and G-Class diagnostics?
The current SUV group of Mercedes-Benz includes GLA, GLB, GLC, GLC Coupé, and G-Class. Four-wheel drive, suspension, driving assistance systems, camera-radar equipment, and body electronics can vary from vehicle to vehicle. Missing physical equipment cannot be added via software in the same model name; retrofit, coding, and calibration are separate tasks.
Calibration required after replacing an ADAS sensor or camera may not be possible with only the VCI; measurement area, target equipment, and manufacturer procedures are required.
Before performing operations on the vehicle, the initial quick test report is saved. Low battery voltage or network communication errors are not interpreted as a single part failure.

Additional Safety Limitation on Electric Mercedes Models
Diagnostic access on high-voltage vehicles such as electric CLA, GLA, GLB, GLC, EQE, EQS, and electric G-Class does not imply physical work authorization. Measurement, de-energizing, or component removal on high-voltage systems should only be performed by trained personnel and according to manufacturer safety procedures.
VCI is the communication layer with control units; it does not replace insulated tools, personal protective equipment, and a safe working area.
When interpreting battery, charging, and thermal management data, technical thresholds specific to the vehicle variant should be used. The nominal value of another model is not considered the target.

How are XENTRY, DAS, License, and Installation Differentiated?
Hardware, software access, and installation service are three separate items. XENTRY Diagnosis VCI is the physical vehicle communication interface. XENTRY or DAS environment, license, StartKey, online account, and operation authorizations must be verified separately. Installation service is also available at Otobiltek and its current price comes from the central commerce record.
- VCI: Physical communication between vehicle and computer
- XENTRY / DAS: Diagnostic software environment on the computer
- License and Account: Authorization for accessible operations
- Installation: Configuration on the appropriate computer and initial connection check

Safe Initial Connection Sequence in Passenger Car Service
During vehicle reception, VIN, mileage, battery voltage, and customer complaint are recorded. VCI and cables are visually inspected; the device is first verified with the correct identity within VCI Manager. Then, a quick test is performed on the vehicle, and the pre-operation report is saved. Code clearing or software operations are not initiated without completing measurements and cause analysis.
- Check battery and voltage support
- Match serial label with VCI Manager identity
- Save the pre-operation quick test report
- Rescan with the same scope after the operation
Frequently Asked Questions
Most frequently asked questions by customers
Does XENTRY VCI perform the same operations on all Mercedes passenger car models?
No. Although the official solution is for all model series, the available operations vary depending on the model year, control unit, software version, license, and user authorization.
Is DAS required for older Mercedes models?
The DAS workflow may be used on some older model series. The exact requirement must be verified with the vehicle identification and the legal software environment.
Can the device be used on electric Mercedes vehicles?
Diagnostic communication can be established with appropriate software and authorization; however, physical work on high-voltage systems requires separate training, protective equipment, and safety procedures.
Is installation included in the device price?
No. Installation is a separate service; the same central pricing record is used whether selected with the device or purchased from the separate service page.
